David Henley
Born in Jersey of a Cornish father in 1949, David Henley paints with sensitivity and passion. Originally a self-employed commercial artist and illustrator producing design and artwork for the printing trade, including a number of prestigious commissions, he took up painting for himself during the 1980’s.
During the next 20 or more years he established himself as a successful landscape painter with work in a number of important collections including Cunard -The Queen Mary ll and British Airways.
Recent conversations with Lamorna artist, Gareth Edwards, encouraged him to combine his love of painting the landscape with his love of music, in particular, folk music. Now inspired by the narrative of sometimes ancient songs, his landscapes have spread wings, sometimes literally, and reflect an archetypal dance between dark, light and an earthy ancient mystery that touches the soul.
