Who we are

Nestled in the heart of Sennen Cove, the Roundhouse and Capstan Gallery are the flagship home of West of Eden Fine Art; a celebration of the very best in Cornish creativity.

We showcase a constantly evolving collection of paintings, sculpture, ceramics, jewellery and craft by both established and emerging artists.

West of Eden was founded by former Classic FM presenter Sally Peterson and her husband, sculptor Colin Caffell.

Housed in one of West Cornwall’s most iconic buildings, the Grade II listed Roundhouse stands right on the Atlantic shoreline.

Built in the mid-1800s to protect the large wooden capstan wheel that once hauled fishing boats up the Sennen harbour slip, the unique round structure was commissioned by Lord Falmouth as rented shelter for local fishermen.

The upper floor served as a net loft, storing ropes, crab pots, and fishing gear.

Today, the Capstan wheel downstairs forms a striking display for sculpture and ceramics. The characterful net loft above, beams and all, features a changing selection of pottery, prints, paintings, photography, jewellery, and glass.

Every piece displayed here is made in Cornwall, reflecting the creativity and craftsmanship that make our region truly unique.
